Some say that taking pictures of yourself and posting them online is the very definition of narcissism. The new research published in the Journal Health reveals that posting a picture online every day could actually boost your mental wellness. The study by Lancaster University and the University of Sheffield found that it all comes down to creativity and interactivity. The creative aspect being the photography itself and the interactivity being the online comments. Researchers suggest that while taking a photo, we have a moment of consciousness, and interacting with others online through comments keeps us feeling connected. What’s more, is the study found that the simple act of planning to take a photo was enough to give participants the incentive to exercise more, explore the world around them and even gave them a sense of accomplishment, which one participant said, “It could be a rubbish photograph but if somebody commented on it, it made it worthwhile.” This isn't to say that all social media habits are healthy, but it turns out posting a photo a day could keep the blues away.
